• Both Junior and Senior events will be held in combination.
• The individual categories will be held on condition that at least four (4) nations enter.
• The FAI Sporting Code issued January 1999 rules will be applicable to the event.
• The official Languages will be English and Spanish.

• PLACE:
• The city of Valladolid, population 350,000, is located north to Madrid. Aerosafa headquarters are located in Plaza de Las Batallas [near Derecho-Law College] and 5 kilometres from the flying field.
• The flying field is in Carretera Renedo, only 3 kilometres away from Valladolid city centre. The facilities have a F2A fenced contest circle on a paved area, a F2B paved contest circle, a F2C fenced contest circle on a paved area and two F2D grass fields. There are also wide boxes areas for each category.
• The flying field has a competition workshop with electricity supply for competitors free use.
• Practice circles for unofficial, free trainings are located near the flying field. A location map will be provided on registration.

• TRANSPORT:
• Valladolid is 195 kms. North from Madrid (capital of Spain).
• You can get here by plane from London, Paris, Barcelona, Madrid and Vigo. You have daily regular flights from these airports to Villanubla Airport.
• Coach services run every hour from Madrid - Estación Sur in Méndez Alvaro. You can get more information at the phone: +34.91.5282803 - +34.91.5282802
• The first coach service is at 7.30 and the last one at 00.30
• There are several trains connecting Madrid and Valladolid daily at different times day and night. (Information will be given in following bulletins as the trains timetable is changed in May)

Sun rises at about 5.00 hours and sets at about 20.00 (daylight saving time).

• SCHEDULE: All dates are July 1999.

• TOUR DAY:
• This day can be for rescheduling due to bad weather. We have scheduled a day for a tour in the region and nearby cities which have important artistic and cultural sights.
• This day is optional and the fees below for food and accommodation do not include the extra day and tour.
• A tourist programme will also be offered during contest days.

• PARTICIPATION:

• All competitors must have their current FAI licence and their models must follow the FAI regulations.
• Each nation may enter up to three senior competitors (F2C: teams) in each category, a team manager and an assistant team manager, as well as helpers and supporters.
• The 1997 European Champions are also entitled to enter, subject to approval of their NAC.

• Each nation may enter one junior (F2C: junior team) in each category in addition to the regular team.
• The 1997 Junior European Champions are also entitled to enter, on condition that they still are juniors (see below for explanatory note).
• The juniors will take part in the combined senior & junior events.
• Results will be presented separately, as well as in combination with the senior competitors.
• If at least four (4) juniors enter a category, junior prizes and a champion title will be awarded.
• If the result of a junior is better than the lowest regular senior team member's result, his result will be taken to calculate the national team result.
• Juniors can take senior helpers (where helpers are allowed), except for F2C where both pilot and mechanic must be juniors.
• If two or more juniors draw on the top positions, they will compete against themselves to resolve the final positions. The result of these rounds will not influence the general classification.

EXPLANATORY NOTE: A competitor is considered to be a junior only up to and including the calendar year in which he attains the age of 18 (eighteen). So, before making their registration, all junior competitors must provide a document to certify their date of birth.

• ORGANIZATION SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:

All contestants, team managers, helpers and supporters have to send two passport photographs when sending the preliminary entry form. Their names should be written on the back.

• IMPORTANT:

CLOTHING: Inside the flying site, all competitors, helpers and supporters must wear sports clothes (shorts & T-shirt). People wearing swimming costumes are not allowed inside the contest site.

• AWARDS:
• FAI Diploma to first through third places.
• All competitors will get an Attendance Certificate.
• FAI Diploma to first place team members and manager.

N.B.: For the Opening Ceremony and Awards Ceremony, the Team Manager has to provide the organization with two flags from his country and his national anthem. He can get them back the tour day or after the Awards Ceremony.

• FAI JURY AND PANELS OF JUDGES.

The following judges have been selected from the CIAM approved list. They have already accepted invitations and have been approved by the CIAM Bureau.

Early arrivals are possible from July 6, when lodging and some practice areas on site will be available. We offer accommodation and meals on the same terms we offer for the European Championships. We include a separate sheet on the Final Entry Form under the heading "Pre-Champs Lodging". We also include a column on the Final Entry Form to indicate if you will want that option.

• LODGING:
• HOTEL ****: We offer a **** hotel located near the City Centre. It was opened two years ago. Rooms are nicely decorated with first class furniture in noble wood. Provided with full bathroom. Each room has a desk, colour TV with satellite channels, music, hairdryer in the bathroom and telephone. The hotel offers safety service to keep your valuables. The common rooms are wide and smartly decorated. The hotel has different coffee shops and restaurants. It also offers laundry service.
  The hotel does not offer especial discounts for children.
  Spacious parking facilities outside.
• HOTEL ***: We offer the same hotel as previously, a *** hotel located on the city centre near the Campo Grande park and the old part of the city. Rooms have been recently refurbished and are decorated in soft colours with first class furniture in noble wood. Provided with full bathroom. Each room has a desk, colour TV with satellite channels, music, hairdryer in the bathroom and telephone. The hotel offers safety service to keep your valuables. The common rooms are also nicely decorated. The hotel has a coffee shop and restaurant. It also offers laundry service.
  The hotel does not offer especial discounts for children.
  The parking service will mean an additional cost of 2000 pts per day.

There will be other similar hotels (hotel *** category) available. The allocation of guests in some of them, if necessary, will be done following the order of reception of your Final Entry Form.

• APARTAHOTEL UNIVERSITARIO: Located in Carretera Santander very close to the flying field and training fields. It is also very near the city centre and surrounded by a beautiful natural landscape. The building has been built three years ago and all rooms have new wooden furniture. Each apartahotel has two rooms with their own full bathroom. Each room has its own built-in wardrobe and a wooden desk. Bed linen and towels are included in the price. It offers restaurant service. Nearby parking facilities free of charge.
• CAMPING: Located at Carretera Burgos-Portugal Km 102. A 1st class camping. It is situated 35 km from the flying site. It has a basketball court and a football field. It has an outdoor swimmingpool. It can only offer 30 places as the others are already booked by regular customers. Transport from and to the flying field is difficult, the railway station is 1 km away from the camping site.

• MEALS:

People with full board accommodation will have their meals included in their accommodation. Each person will have to have their meals in their lodgings. It is not possible to combine the different options of accommodation and meals.

Note that Spain offer Mediterranean diet. It means that Lunch is the most important meal in the day and dinner is not as big as it is in Europe. That is why prices for lunch and dinner packets are the same.

Breakfast is not offered as guests at different accommodations have their breakfast included in the price.

• BANQUET:

The banquet will be hold in an ancient typical Castillian wine-cellar turned into a fashionable restaurant, which still keeps all the features from its origins. The rustic set reminds ancient times. Due to the special characteristics of the place, the number of places available for the banquet is limited and they will be allocated following the entry order and full payment.

• EXCURSION TOUR:

An excursion tour is scheduled for July 19. We will visit special places of interest in the region. Buses will depart at around 10:30 am. The price includes lunch and coffee.

• A FEW CLARlFlCATIONS:

• Reigning European Champions are invited by the Organization. They do not have to pay the entry fee.
• A competitor who is also a Team Manager pays only the single competitor fee.
• A competitor in two categories pays an entry fee of 150 % i.e. 44.200 pts (for a senior)
• F2D mechanics pay as helpers.

• TERMS OF PAYMENT:
• Payment of fees is to be made in advance.
• There will be an additional 10% charge on the obligatory entry fees for payments received May 16 to May 31, and an additional 15% charge on those received June 1 to June 15.
• Lodging will be allocated in order of full payment for the same. The penalty for late payment could be a more expensive lodging alternative.
• If partial payment is received it will be used for entry fees first
• Any excess payment will be refunded upon registration. This does not apply to cancellations.

• METHOD OF PAYMENT:
• Payment is to be made in Spanish Pesetas.
• All bank costs must be paid by the sender.

• The 1999 European Championships must be specified when paying.
• Receipt of all payments and entries will be acknowledged by AEROSAFA office as soon as possible.

• DOCUMENTS REQUIRED
• All competitors and team managers must carry current valid FAI licences and identity documents: (passport or driving licence with a photo)
• F2D mechanics must be entered as such at registration, and must also carry current valid FAI licences (They pay the helper entry fee)
• F2A helpers should be registered as such, but need no FAI licence:
• Other helpers and supporters need no licence.
• Juniors must have a passport attesting that they are born on January 1,1981 or later.
• Competitors must have model specification certificates for all models entered.
• The team must show a signed and stamped NAC team nomination. Normally the Final Entry Form is sufficient.
• The team must bring a minimum of TWO National Flags of the approximate size 1 x 1.5 metres, and an audio cassette with the National Anthem. Team Managers will get them back the Tour Day or after the Awards Ceremony.

• HEALTH INSURANCE:
• Each National Team must provide their own medical and travel insurance. The organisers insurance will only be the third part insurance required according to the Sporting Code.

FUEL

Fuel ingredients will be sold on site. This is done by a hobby shop specialising in Control Line, ensuring suitable grades. We request that an advance order be indicated on the Final Entry Form.

• For F2A competitors 0.3 litres and for F2D competitors 0.5 litres of official fuel will be provided for practice at no extra cost.
• Fuel for contest flights is also free of charge.
• Additional F2A and F2D contest fuel quantities for practice will be available for purchase.
• The oil for the contest fuel will be Castor Oil, first pressing.
• The purity of methanol will be analysed and declared (Vendor specification is 0.03% water maximum).
• In F2A extra care will be taken to keep the contest fuel at constant temperature throughout the contest.
• All oils are sold in smaller quantities at about 15% extra cost.

State CLEARLY THE AMOUNT OF FUEL YOU WANT. You do not have to pay in advance for it. But Organisers need to know what your needs are to ask for your orders in advance. Include this order with the Final Entry Form.
